Murder investigation launched following 'assault' in Kirkby

Two men have been arrested

A murder investigation is underway after a man was found collapsed in a house in Kirkby last night (Sunday 9 May).

At around 10.30pm, emergency services were called to an address on Clorain Road following reports two men had entered the address, before they left short time later and the occupant was found unresponsive with a head injury.

The victim, a 36-year-old man, was taken to hospital where he sadly died this morning, Monday, 10 May.

Two men, aged 32 and 34, have been arrested on suspicion of murder. They are now in police custody for questioning.

An investigation is underway and detectives say they're keen to speak to anyone with information.

Detective Inspector Jackie Guinness said:

“A man has tragically died following a suspected assault in Kirkby last night and we are working to establish the full circumstances.

“Two men remain in custody in connection with the incident, and I would ask anyone who saw or heard any suspicious behaviour in Clorain Road or the surrounding area last night, or has any CCTV or dash cam footage, to please get in touch. Officers will remain in the area today to carry out CCTV, witness and forensic enquiries.”
