A mum and son have been jailed after an XL Bully attack in Bootle left an eight-year-old boy with life-changing injuries.

Amanda Young, 49, and Lewis Young, 30, both admitted responsibility for the dog that bit the child on the head in a communal area of flats on Wadham Road on 10 February 2024.

Lewis was the dog's owner and left the dog with his mum to look after on the day of the incident.

The child, who is not related to the defendants, had gone to the flats to see a friend to play football.

The dog was seized and put down with the agreement of the owner.

Both have been banned from owning a dog until further notice.
