Motorcyclist dies after crashing into field near Ormskirk

The victim's family is now being supported by specialist officers

A man has died after his motorbike crashed into a field near Ormskirk.

Police were called to Bowker’s Green Lane just before 7.40pm on Friday May 13 following reports a Suzuki GSF 600 motorcycle had crashed into a field after the rider had failed to negotiate a left-hand bend.

The motorcyclist, a 61-year-old man from Bootle, was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to the Royal Aintree Hospital where he later died.

The man was travelling with two friends when the collision happened.

His family have been informed and are being supported by a Family Liaison Officer.

Sgt Marc Glass, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at Lancashire Police said: “An investigation has commenced to establish the cause of this collision.

“My thoughts are with the man and his family at this difficult time.

“In the coming days we will be speaking with witnesses and conducting CCTV enquiries in the area.

“If you witnessed the incident and have not already spoken to police, please get in touch as soon as possible. Further, if you were driving in the area at the time of this incident and have any dashcam footage we would ask that you please contact us.”
