Motorcyclist 'critical' following Wirral crash

A man's in a critical condition in hospital after he was involved in a crash in Heswall yesterday

Merseyside Police are urging anyone with information about a serious collision in Heswall to come forward.

It happened at around 10.15am yesterday (Monday 3 January) at the junction of Chester Road and Gayton Lane, and involved a silver Toyota Auris car and a red Honda motorcycle.

Emergency services attended and the motorbike rider was taken to hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

The car driver was taken to hospital for minor injuries and is assisting police with their enquiries.

Officers are particularly keen to speak to a man and a woman who were jogging in the area at the time and may have witnessed the collision.

Roads Policing Sergeant Amy Murray said:

“We are in the early stages of an investigation into a road traffic collision in Heswall which has left a man seriously injured.

“If you witnessed the collision or were driving past at the time and have any dashcam footage, please review it and get in touch.

“We are particularly keen to speak to a man and a woman who we believe were out jogging in the area at the time of the incident and may have witnessed the collision. If this is you then please get in touch as soon as possible, as information you hold could be vital to our enquiries.

“Please get in touch with us directly or anonymously, through Crimestoppers, and we’ll do the rest.”
