Merseyside Police arrest man after attempted shooting in Belle Vale
The man currently remains in police custody
Mersey Police have arrested a man after a gun was fired in an attempted shooting in Belle Vale on Friday (November 17th).
Officers had received reports of a shooting after two shots had been heard being fired on Lee Park avenue at around 2:35 p.m. on Friday afternoon.
According to eyewitness reports, a group of men were spotted on electric bikes in the area and had fired a gun at a Land Rover in a car park.
No injuries were reported as a result of the crime, but police in Merseyside have been quick to take action, arresting one man from Liverpool.
The 23-year-old was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life or enable others to do so. Police are continuing their investigations and he currently remains in police custody.
Speaking about the developments, Detective Inspector Neil Dillon from Merseyside Police appealed to others that may have seen the incident take place to come forward.
"Although we have made an arrest, our investigation is ongoing and we are still appealing for anyone with information to come forward," he said.
āMerseyside Police will continually target those involved in serious and organised crime, including the use of guns on our streets.
āSadly, there are a number of people who are prepared to use firearms and cause harm in Merseyside, with little or no regard for other members of the community.
āCarrying or using firearms and dangerous weapons on our streets where people live and work will not be tolerated in Merseyside and I would like to reassure residents that we are taking this incident extremely seriously."
Anyone with information is being urged to get in contact with the force as soon as possible - quoting reference number 23001151993. Those who have CCTV or dash cam footage are particularly wanted.
