Three men have been charged over a fight in Liverpool, after police found a group of men "fighting with weapons" in broad daylight.

Officers rushed to Lower Breck Road in Anfield at around 16:00BST on Tuesday night, where three men were arrested.

Neil McGovern (36), Alan McGovern (41), from September Road, and Michael Lawal (45) from Lower Breck Road, are each facing two charges of wounding with intent and possession of an offensive weapon.

A fourth man arrested on suspicion of assault, a 27-year-old from Kensington, has been released under investigation.

Detective Chief Inspector Steve Ball: “An investigation into this incident is ongoing and three men have now been charged.

“I want to again remind people of the dangers of spreading misinformation on social media because it can be extremely dangerous in fuelling community tensions.

“I would therefore urge people not to speculate as we continue with our ongoing inquiries. We will provide further updates on our channels and to media when appropriate.”
