Disruption activity by officers in Sefton, Knowsley and Liverpool and officers from the specialist Matrix team has resulted in four people being arrested for possession with intent to supply Class A drugs (heroin and cocaine) in Liverpool, the recovery of scrambler bike and 120kg of cannabis in Sefton and the recovery of ÂŁ92,000 in cash, a large quantity of cocaine and three high value watches in Knowsley.
In Liverpool four people (three men aged 18, 22 and 32 years, and a woman aged 28 years, were arrested in Norris Green last night (Monday, 11 April) following the execution of two drugs warrants at addresses in Norris Green. They were arrested following the discovery of four kilos of heroin and two kilos of cocaine with an estimated street value of ÂŁ500,000. Officers also arrested a 29-year-old man after they executed a warrant at an address in Roundhey, Stockbridge Village, and found a found a small cannabis farm, with approximately 23 plants, they also seized a scrambler bike from the address.
In Sefton neighbourhood officers executed two warrants at two locations in Derby Road, Bootle, yesterday. At one location they seized a green and white scrambler bike along with a significant amount of hydroponic equipment. And at another they found 120 kilos of cannabis resin, with an estimated street value of ÂŁ250,000. This afternoon officers have arrested three men, on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle in Bootle, following the seizure of two motorbikes and a transit van.
In Knowsley officers involved in a roadside operation pulled over a silver Ford transit van and found ÂŁ80,000 in cash in a bag. A warrant was subsequently carried out at an address in Melling and a further ÂŁ10,000 was recovered along with three high value watches and a large quantity of cocaine. A 31-year-old man from Melling was arrested on suspicion of possession of criminal property and possession with intent to supply Class A drugs. He has been bailed pending further inquiries.
Detective Chief Superintendent Paul Richardson, head of the specialist Matrix Serious Organised Crime team, said: “Merseyside Police is relentless in its pursuit of those involved in serious and organised crime and we will continue to target those who disrupt the day-to-day lives of decent, law abiding members of the public.
"On occasions, like we have seen recently, some of those who are involved in serious and organised crime will use firearms to protect their illegal activity, or to create fear and intimidate rival groups. They have no regard for members of the public and we will not standby and let them use weapons on our streets.
“I want to reassure our communities that we are committed to tackling gun crime and pursuing those involved in serious and organised crime and are investing significant resources to pursue offenders and put them before the courts.
“But I also want to make it clear to those who are involved in serious and organised crime that there is no place for them on our streets and we will do anything within our power to put them behind bars. Anyone who is involved in this type of criminality can expect a visit from us in the coming days, weeks and months.”
