Everton's new director of football Marcel Brands officially starts work on Friday and he could have a new manager by his side by then.

The appointment of former Hull and Watford boss Marco Silva is understood to be edging closer and it is believed the Portuguese could be in position by the end of the week.

That would coincide with Brands' first official day, although the Dutchman has been working on getting a deal for Sam Allardyce's replacement over the line since being appointed a fortnight ago.

The former PSV sporting director has been so busy in the interim he has not had time to house-hunt so his wife Kim took on the responsibility - with the one proviso from her husband being it had to be close to Everton's training complex.

"We have found a house, a perfect house, 20 minutes from Finch Farm and hopefully I can move in directly on June 1,'' he told evertontv.

"I think it is important for me to be in the area immediately because there is a lot of work to do, so then it is good to live in the area."

"It's really important to live there as soon as possible, in order to be close to work.''

Everton forward Henry Onyekuru has confirmed he will not be returning for a second loan spell with Anderlecht after falling out of favour with coach Hein Vanhaezebrouck this season.

The 20-year-old Nigerian, who went to Belgium to help with his work permit qualification, scored nine goals before injury ruled him out in December and he did not play again for the Belgian club despite regaining fitness for the start of this month.

"I was fit, but I did not play. So I'm not staying with Anderlecht,'' Onyekuru told Het Laatste Nieuws.

"(Vanhaezebrouck) has not spoken to me for weeks. Thanks to the media, I had to learn that I was not ready."

"I have worked very hard in the last few months to come back. This was not enough for some."
