A man accused of deliberately driving into a crowd of Liverpool fans is set to go on trial today (25 November).

More than 130 people were injured in May after a Ford Galaxy ploughed into people on Water Street, as supporters were making their way towards town after watching their heroes parade the Premier League trophy.

Those injured range from a six-month-old boy to a 78-year-old woman.

50 of those hurt needed hospital treatment.

Paul Doyle, 54, of West Derby, Liverpool, has pleaded not guilty to:

  • One count of dangerous driving
  • Nine counts of grievous bodily harm with intent
  • 17 counts of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm
  • Three counts of wounding with intent
  • One count of affray

The trial is estimated to last for up to four weeks.
