A man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries following an assault in Moreton last night.

Officers were called to Hoylake Road near the Coach and Horses pub at around 6:23pm last night (June 15).

It's believed it started shortly after two women were involved in a fight at the junction of Gautby Road and Hoylake Road in Birkenhead, with a second altercation happening in a car park at around 6:20pm

A 44 year old victim suffered injuries to his arm and hand, which officers think were caused by a blade.

A 35-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm. She remains in custody.

Police are searching for a man in connection with the attack.

Detective Chief Inspector Matt Caton said: "An investigation is currently underway as we seek to establish what has taken place and we are carrying out a number of lines of enquiry including speaking to witnesses and examining CCTV footage.

“We know that the area around Gautby Road and Hoylake Road would have been busy last night and we believe there were a number of people who may have captured either of the incidents on their mobile phones.

"I would ask those people to come forward and share that footage with us to assist with our enquiries.

“I would also ask that anyone who was in that area who has a dashcam checks their footage to see if they captured anything significant as it could be vital to our investigation.”
