Man suffers serious injuries after being knocked off his bike in Wavertree

An investigation is underway following a road traffic collision involving a bicycle and a car in Wavertree on Saturday (5 August).

Emergency services were called to the junction of Durning Road and Wavertree Road at 8.49pm.

It follows reports that a cyclist, believed to be in his 40s, had been involved in a collision with a silver Volkswagen Golf.

The cyclist has sustained serious injuries and he has been taken to hospital. His condition is described as serious, but is not believed to be life threatening.

The driver of the car stopped at the scene and is assisting with the investigation.

Officers from the Roads Policing team carry out examinations at the scene and anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has any dashcam footage which could help with inquiries is asked to contact the police.
