A man's recovering after being stabbed in the neck in Southport.
A man's been stabbed in the neck in Southport.
Police and ambulance crews were called to Knowsley Road at around 5 o clock.
The victim was found to have a knife wound to his neck and is in a serious - but not life threatening - condition.
Officers have sealed off the area while they carry out forensic examinations and are speaking to local residents, witnesses and trying to locate CCTV footage.
In a statement, Merseyside Police said:
"A 48 year old man from Southport has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.
He has been taken to a police station where he will be questioned by detectives."
