Man shot in the back in Litherland

Police are investigating after a man sustained an apparent gunshot wound in Litherland last night

Detectives from Merseyside Police's Matrix team are investigating after a man was apparently shot in Litherland last night.

A 31 year-old presented himself at University Hospital Aintree in Fazakerley at 12.45am today with an injury consistent with a shotgun discharge. The man’s injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

He told officers that he had been walking through Rimrose Valley Country Park in Litherland when the incident happened.

The investigation is at a very early stage and enquiries are ongoing to identify the exact scene of the incident. ​Detectives are today working to piece together the circumstances. The injured man is not currently helping police with their enquiries.
