A man is in hospital after a gang of three men forced their way into his home and shot him.
It happened on Dacy Road in Everton at around 11pm last night.

Police have stepped up patrols in the area.
Merseyside Police Chief Inspector Chris Gibson said:
“We are keeping an open mind as to the motive at this early stage in the investigation, and I am sure the vast majority of people in the community are appalled that someone could be attacked in their home in such a way, and we look to them to help us by providing information to make the streets safer. “We are in the process of establishing the full circumstances and I would like to assure the local community that we will be increasing patrols in the area.
"It is absolutely vital that anyone with information comes forward immediately to help these enquiries, either through our gun crime hotline or anonymously to Crimestoppers.
"All information provided will be acted upon and we will be relentless in identifying those responsible and bringing them to justice. “If you have any information, or saw anything suspicious in the Dacy Road area around 11pm, contact us. We believe the offenders made off on foot, on Rydal Street or Walton Breck Road, and if you saw anyone running down these streets just after 11pm, get in touch as the smallest detail could be key.”
