Man hurt in Liverpool city centre attack

A man's been left with a fractured cheek and jaw after an assault on Church Street last night.

Merseyside Police is investigating an alleged assault in Liverpool City Centre in the early hours of this morning, Friday 17 June. At around 3.30am, a call was received stating that a man was assaulted outside McDonalds on Church Street. Officers and the ambulance service attended and found a 40-year-old man with a fractured cheek and jaw, and a cut to the head. The man was taken to the Royal Liverpool University Hospital where his condition is being assessed. CCTV enquiries are ongoing at the location to establish the circumstances. Detective Inspector Phil Atkinson from Liverpool CID said: “The investigation is in its early stages but we initially believe that the man was subjected to a vicious attack by multiple offenders. If you were in and around Church Street around 3.30 this morning and saw any of this incident, please call us with any information.
