Man hurt after two reported shootings

A 20 year old man is in hospital with leg injuries after a shooting last night in Kirkdale.
The man's injuires are non-life threatening.

Police were called to Stanley Road at 8.45pm where the injured man was found. Damage consistent with a firearms discharge was also caused to William Hill bookmakers on the street.
An investigation is currently underway to establish the circumstances of what happened and a cordon is in place on Stanley Road.
Detective Inspector Paul Speight said: “The investigation is in its very early stages and we will be carrying out CCTV and house-to-house enquiries in the area to establish what has happened. You may have witnessed the incident, or a vehicle making off at speed from the location. Any information, no matter how small will be investigated.
“I want to reassure our communities that the use of firearms will not be tolerated on the streets of Merseyside and we are committed to finding the people who are responsible and bringing them to justice.”
It came around two hours after shots were reported on Maryport Close in Everton. Police are still treating this incident as unconfirmed
