Man rushed to hospital after being hit by car in Toxteth

A man has been taken to hospital after being hit by a car outside a Tesco supermarket in Toxteth.

Police were called to Moses Street at around 3:30pm on Wednesday 19 June, following reports of a road traffic collision involving a pedestrian and a car.

When emergency services arrived, they found a man - in his 70s - with leg and wrist injuries. He was taken to hospital for treatment.

The driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene, Merseyside Police confirmed.

A spokesperson for the force said: "We can confirm we received a report of a road traffic collision involving a pedestrian and a car on Moses Street, in Toxteth, on Wednesday 19 June. It was reported at around 3.30pm and emergency services attended the scene.

"A man aged in his 70s was taken to hospital with a leg and wrist injury. The driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene and is assisting us with our inquiries."
