A man's been jailed for 19 years after being found guilty of historic child sex abuse in Liverpool.

Raymond Andrews, 57, was found guilty, over acts committed in the city between 2014 and 2016.

Andrews, who is from Liverpool but has been living in Oldham, was also issued a restraining order, Sexual Harm Prevention Order and will be required to sign the Sex Offender Register for life.

He was found guilty two counts of rape and six counts of engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a girl aged 13 to 15.

Detective Sergeant Louise Wood said: “This two-week trial clearly showed Andrews’ predatory behaviour where he groomed his young victim. Thankfully a jury saw through his lies, and he will now spend a considerable amount of time in prison.

“This result was only possible thanks to the sheer determination and bravery of his victim, despite Andrews denying the offences.

“I hope this sentencing shows that time is no barrier in reporting offences to Merseyside Police and we will take every report extremely seriously, regardless of when it occurred.”
