Man fighting for life after attack in Kensington

The victim was rushed to hospital with head injuries

A man in his 70s has been rushed to hospital in a critical condition, after he was attacked in Kensington.

The victim was found with head injuries in a property on Molyneux Road.

It happened on Monday afternoon (26 June), with Merseyside Police confirming this morning that they have arrested two men on suspicion of s18 wounding with intent.

A 39 year-old man and a 48 year-old man are currently in custody where they will be questioned.

Detectives are carrying out a number of lines of enquiry as they seek to establish where and when the victim's injuries occurred. There are currently cordons in place to allow for investigative work to be carried out.

House-to-house, CCTV and witness enquiries are being carried out in the local area.

Detective Inspector Dave Sung said: “We are carrying out enquiries to establish when and how the man came to be injured. I would ask anyone who can assist with our investigation to contact us as a matter of urgency.”
