Man dies after car hits wall and bursts into flames in Knotty Ash
A woman's been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving
A man has died in after a car came off a roundabout in Knotty Ash and hit a wall, before bursting into flames.
It happened at around 4.50am yesterday (Sunday 10th October) on Pilch Lane, at the roundabout with East Prescot Road.
Emergency services attended and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service extinguished the fire.
A man in his 20s sadly died as a result of his injuries.
A 25-year-old woman from Liverpool was taken to hospital with serious but not life threatening injuries.
She has since been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
Officers remain in the area while extensive forensic, CCTV, witness and house-to-house enquiries are carried out.
Anyone who witnessed the collision or with any information is asked to contact police.
Roads Policing Inspector Stuart McIver said:
“An investigation is ongoing after a man sadly died following a collision in Knotty Ash yesterday, and we are keen to speak to anyone with information.
“We’d ask that anyone who witnessed the collision or captured anything on dashcam or other devices and has yet to come forward does so as soon as possible. Your information could be vital to our investigation.
“Whether you come to us directly or anonymously, through Crimestoppers, all information will be acted upon.”
