Man charged with sexual offences in Sefton

Detectives in Merseyside have charged a man with child sex offences following an incident in Sefton.

Police say they received a report on Saturday 18 May a man had sexually assaulted a girl along a canal path.

John Lovell, 59 years, of Othello Close, Bootle, has been charged with two counts of assaulting a girl under aged 13 by penetration with a part of your body and assaulting a girl under 14 by touching.

He has been remanded in custody and will appear in court at a later date.
