A man's been charged with attempted murder after a 19 year old woman was found injured on a footbridge in Southport
22-year-old Ryan Quigley from Kensington Road in Southport was charged with attempted murder following the incident, which occurred at around 11.30am on Saturday morning a footbridge off Marine Parade in Southport.
Quigley has been remanded in custody to appear at Liverpool Crown Court on Monday, 3 April.
A knife was recovered close to the scene and has been seized for forensic enquiries.
Detectives are keen to get the details of a man and woman who found the knife and also want to speak with anyone who was in the area at the time and may have information which could assist with the investigation.
Officers patrolled the area to provide reassurance and Marine Parade was reopened on Saturday afternoon once enquiries were carried out.
Detective Sergeant Tony O'Brien said: "We are looking to identify and confirm the details of a man and woman who located the weapon on Saturday close to Marine Parade; in addition to anyone else who witnessed the incident, as we know that members of the public were close by. Your details could be vital in the investigation."
