Man badly hurt in Wallasey attack

A man's fighting for his life after an assault in Wallasey this morning.

Detectives are appealing for information following a serious assault at an address in Wallasey this morning (Thursday, 15 September), which has left a 27-year-old man fighting for his life. Officers were called at 10.14am to reports of a man having suffered serious injuries at a flat on King Street, Wallasey. When they arrived at the address paramedics were already in attendance and providing medical assistance to the occupant of the flat, who was unconscious and appeared to have suffered serious injuries to his head and body, which were consistent with having been assaulted. The man was taken to hospital where he is being treated, his condition is described as critical. Detectives investigating the incident are appealing to anyone who may have heard, or seen anything, which could help them with their inquiries to contact them urgently. DI Paul Parry, said: "The occupant of the flat is currently fighting for his life in hospital, having suffered life threatening injuries, and I urge anyone wo may have information which could help us with our inquiries to come forward. I would particularly like to appeal to anyone, who may have heard or seen anything suspicious in the hours leading up to the discovery of victim at around 10am this morning to contact us urgently, so that we can establish what happened in the flat and how those injuries were sustained." Crime Scene Investigators are currently at the scene where they are carrying out forensic examinations and house-to-house inquiries are underway. Detectives will also be examining CCTV as part of their inquiries.
