Man arrested after young woman dies in lorry crash in Everton
The 24 year old was knocked down at a Shell Garage on Scotland Road
A 24 year old woman had died after being knocked down by a lorry in Liverpool.
At around 8.30am this morning (Thursday 10th August) emergency services were called to Scotland Road in Everton, near its junction with Wilbraham Street, following reports a lorry had been involved in a collision with a 24-year-old woman.
Paramedics attended, but she was sadly pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.
A 51-year-old man from Lancashire stopped at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He remains in custody.
Detective Sergeant Kurt Timpson from the MATRIX Serious Collision Investigation Unit said:
“We have launched an investigation following the death of a woman in a road traffic collision this morning.
“Her next-of-kin have been informed, and our specially trained officers are supporting them at this extremely difficult time and our thoughts are very much with them.
“Any death on the road causes a huge amount of heartache to family and friends left behind. To help us get answers for her family, I am appealing to anyone who witnessed this incident or who has any information to please come forward.
“In addition, if you live locally or were in the area at the time of the incident, please check your CCTV or dashcam footage to see if you captured anything.”
Scotland Road remains closed citybound from the junction with Jennifer Avenue whilst vital collision investigation work is carried out and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
