A man has been arrested after a house was shot at and the front door set on fire in a street in Liverpool on Saturday (07 September).

Emergency services were called to Helena Street in Walton at around 23:55BST, following reports of gunshots.

Police said they found evidence consistent with shots being fired, and believe two men were seen running away from the house.

A 27-year-old from Huyton is now being questioned on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

Detective Chief Inspector Stratton added: “Merseyside Police immediately responds to incidents involving guns and is actively working to make the region a safer place to live and work.

“There is no room for guns on the streets and we will do everything within our power to ensure those responsible are brought to justice."
