Police investigating the fatal stabbing of a man in Liverpool City Centre have arrested a 24 year old on suspicion of murder.

20 year old Fatah Warsame from Cardiff died after being found wounded on Hanover Street in the early hours of Sunday morning.

He was taken to hospital but later died of his injuries.

A post mortem revealed he died from a stab wound to the chest.

A 24 year-old man from Liverpool is being questioned on suspicion of murder.

He's also been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a controlled drug.

Two other men – a 20 year-old from the Liverpool area and a 21 year-old from the London area – have also been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Detective Chief Inspector John Middleton said: “I am continuing to appeal to anyone who was in the area around Slater Street or Wood Street to please come forward, as they may have seen or heard something which could prove vital to our investigation.

“We are determined to find those responsible for this devastating crime and bring them to justice and I would like to once again urge people with any information, no matter how small, to please get in touch. We will fully investigate any information given to us."
