Man arrested on suspicion of drug driving after pedestrian dies in crash in Kirkby

A man's been arrested on suspicion of drug driving after a man died in a crash in Kirkby last night

A report was received of a collision involving a male pedestrian and an Audi S3 on Pingwood Lane at around 5.05pm.

Emergency services attended and the pedestrian was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

A 37-year-old male from Kirkby was arrested on suspicion of drug driving. He has been taken to a local police station for questioning.

Enquiries are ongoing to identify the victim and inform his next of kin.

Road closures were in place on Pingwood Lane and motorists are thanked for avoiding the area.
