Police have arrested a man after Liverpool's pre-season friendly against Huddersfield Town was halted by a drone.

Play stopped in the 61st minute when the gadget was spotted hovering above the field at the John Smith's Stadium in Huddersfield, triggering fears for players' safety.

Police officers were sent to investigate the aerial pitch invasion and the pilot was identified. The drone was seized before the referee allowed play to continue.

West Yorkshire Police said a 37-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody.

Liverpool went on to win 2-0 after three minutes of extra time were added to the second half. ends
