Man arrested after Huyton shooting
29 year old man from Roby detained
Merseyside Police have arrested a man after shots were fired in Huyton on Sunday, 13 June.
At around 2.30am they received a report of damage to a property on Woolfall Crescent. Evidence consistent with a shooting was found in the street and an investigation was commenced.
No injuries were reported.
Following an extensive investigation, today (Wednesday 16 June) police arrested a 29-year-old man from Roby on suspicion of possession of a Section 1 Firearm, burglary and possession of a Class B drug (cannabis).
He has been taken into custody for questioning by officers.
Detective Inspector John Fitzgerald said: “The arrest today shows that where people seek to use dangerous weapons to cause fear and harm in our communities we will take action and bring those responsible to justice.
“While we have made one arrest, detectives are still working tirelessly to investigate this incident and a further incident on Reeds Road, Huyton, on Sunday evening.
“We know how shocking these incidents have been for the community in Huyton and we have stepped up high visibility patrols in the area.
“We don’t believe the incidents to be linked at this stage in the investigation and would continue to urge the community to come forward with any information.
“We will act on all information provided on gun crime to remove weapons and those who use them from the community. Please come forward with what you know, directly or anonymously, and we will do the rest.”
