A Kirkby man accused of murdering 48 year old Paul Groom has made his first appearance at Liverpool Crown Court today

Michael Hill, of Oakdale Close, Westvale, is alleged to have murdered who allegedly suffered head injuries earlier this month.

Mr Groom, of Longmoor Lane, Fazakerley was taken to hospital after his condition deteriorated and he died on December 10.

Mr Groom, whose family live in the Wrexham area, had allegedly been attacked at a house Stanton Crescent, Kirkby in the early hours of December 8 by 32-year-old Hill.

A post mortem examination found he had died from blunt trauma injury to the head.

Bearded Hill did not apply for bail and was further remanded in custody until March 10 when he is due to enter his plea via video link from prison. A date for trial, expected to last between five to ten days, was fixed to begin on June 12.
