Lucy Hargreaves: Hunt For Killers 10 Years On

Published 3rd Aug 2015

Detectives investigating the murder of Lucy Hargreaves are continuing to appeal for information, on the tenth anniversary of her death.

Mum of three, Lucy, was just 22-years-old when she was murdered in her home in Walton on 3 August 2005. This year Lucy should have been celebrating her 32nd birthday.

In the early hours of 3 August 2005 Lucy was asleep on the sofa, when three men burst into her home on Lambourne Avenue, Walton. They shot Lucy, as her partner and then two-year-old daughter lay asleep upstairs.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Tivendale said: “Ten years on, this murder remains one of the most brutal and callous acts we have ever seen on Merseyside. Even as a toddler was heard crying upstairs, the offenders poured petrol around the living room and hallway and set fire to the house. We still firmly believe that the offenders would have been in no doubt they were killing a young woman and their actions would have claimed the lives of two more people that night, had Lucy’s partner not escaped the fire by jumping from a window with his daughter.

“We remain as determined as ever to bring Lucy’s killers to justice and have released a series of age progression photographs of Kevin Parle, who we still wish to speak with, as he may have information that could assist with our enquiries.

“Lucy was an innocent victim and ten years on, her family deserve answers for the loving mother and daughter they were robbed of.”

Detectives are also continuing their appeal for any information about a Gold Lexus registration NAD499. The car was found burnt out shortly after the incident in Richard Kelly Drive, Clubmoor. It is thought a number of males dumped the car before running in the direction of Normandale Road.

DCI Tivendale continued: “It’s never too late to come forward with information – we believe someone, somewhere knows what has happened to Lucy and I hope that the passing of time will enable them to search their consciences and find the courage to come forward. I’d like to reassure anyone who has any information about this incident that there are special measures that we can put in place to protect witnesses in serious cases, such as this. You can also contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 and provide information that way. Any information, no matter how small, could help up give some much needed answers to Lucy’s family.”

Kevin Thomas Parle – There whereabouts of Kevin Thomas Parle, now 35-years-old, is still sought in connection with the murder of Lucy Hargreaves as well as that of Liam Kelly.

Parle is described as white, 6ft 5in tall with a broad build. He has blue eyes, ginger hair and a 1” scar on the left side of his head.

A number of images of what Kevin Parle may look like now, ten years on, have been produced.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Tivendale said: “We are working with a number of different agencies, including the National Crime Agency, to try and trace Kevin Parle.

“Working with the NCA and Liverpool John Moores University, a series of images have been produced of what Parle could look like now. I’d ask people to take a good look at these images and if you have any information about this man’s whereabouts, to get in contact

“It’s possible that Parle is living abroad and there is European arrest warrant out for his arrest, in relation to the death of Liam Kelly.”

16-year-old Liam Kelly was murdered in the early hours of 19 June 2004 on Grafton Street, Dingle. As he got out of a car, he was approached by two men were armed with a gun. Liam attempted to run away but was shot as he tried to get into a nearby house. He died as a result of his injuries.”
