Loaded pistol found in Huyton
Merseyside Police say it was hidden in woodland

Police carrying out an open land search Huyton have recovered a loaded firearm.
At around 11.40am on Wednesday 16th June police located a loaded pistol in an overgrown wooded area behind Waterpark Drive.
Enquiries will be carried out to establish whether the weapon is linked to any previous incidents.
Knowlsey Community Policing Chief Inspector Phil Mullally said: “This is a significant recovery of an extremely dangerous weapon, which can no longer be used to spread fear and misery in our communities.
“Our streets are made safer with every weapon we recover and enquiries are now ongoing to establish whether this weapon has been used before and to whom it belongs.
“We’re absolutely committed to tackling those involved in all serious organised crime, including gun crime, and we have dedicated significant resources into taking weapons and offenders off our streets.
“Detectives are continuing to investigate recent incidents where shots were fired in Huyton this weekend and we will continue to take proactive action through open land searches and high visibility patrols in our community to find those responsible and bring them to justice.
