Here's some of the best local talent that has performed at Glastonbury over the years

It's that time of year again when people pack their bags for the weekend and head to Worthy Farm. Here are some scousers that have performed at Glastonbury over the past years:

1. Echo & the Bunnymen, 1985

English rock band formed in Liverpool, made up the 1985 lineup at the festival. The band concluded the waterlogged weekend as they held the crowd with some of their best hits. The local band have returned in following years to perform to the thousands, but their 1985 Sunday set will be remembered as one of their best.

2. Elvis Costello, 2013

This musician who grew up in Liverpool delivered a brilliant set as he headlined the Pyramid Stage. The thousands enjoyed Costello's return to the Pyramid Stage as the perfect warm up for the Rolling Stones that night.

3. Paul McCartney, 2004

This Liverpool legend took to the Pyramid Stage and performed one of the most memorable sets ever at Worthy Farm. The thousands before him joined in and over the next couple of hours unified for one of the best sing-alongs in the rain.

4. The Zutons, 2008

After Mark Ronson reworked The Zuton's song "Valerie" and soared to global success, the indie rock band formed in Liverpool, invited Ronson to join them for their headline set. The band have played Glastonbury many times but this 2008 collaboration is remembered as one of the most exciting duos performed on the Other Stage.

5. The Wombats, 2008

The Liverpool rock band smashed their Glastonbury gig in 2008 with their performance on the Other Stage. The band fuelled the Merseyside takeover that year which saw The Zutons and The Rascals also grab respectable slots on the Other Stage.

6. Miles Kane, 2013

Birkenhead born, Miles Kane from the Last Shadow Puppets and frontman of The Rascals is a regular on the John Peel stage at Worthy Farm, but it was his 2013 set that was extra special. Kane was joined on stage by special guest Alex Turner during his afternoon performance as they performed "Standing Next to Me" together. The surprise performance was met by deafening applause from the fans who had gathered to watch Kane's late afternoon slot.

7. The Rascals, 2008

The Rascals made their mark at Glastonbury that year as they played a set the night before the festival got officially underway and also made up one of the opening acts the next day. The Wirral trio took to the Other Stage and held the crowd as they performed some of their well known hits.

8. The Coral, 2007

The Wirral band set the 2007 festival off with a bang as they made up that year's headliners on the Other Stage. The seven-piece launched into hit single "Dreaming of You" which was greeted with huge cheers from the crowd who knew every word.
