Liverpool is back on the telly tonight as a new four part thriller hits our screens.
This marks the second signing for Liverpool company LA Productions by Channel 5 in the last three years.
Compulsion is a four part thriller and tells the story of a paramedic, who, after surviving a major disaster, suffers PTSD and to escape her pain she turns to gambling.
She appears to be coping to the outside world but what is happening beneath this front is a very different story.
The paramedic is on the brink of losing everything when a so-called “good Samaritan” comes along – but is she a good Samaritan? Or is this vulnerable lady about to lose the most dangerous gamble of her life?
Compulsion will be shown across four consecutive days on Channel 5, from April 12th. It will be shown at 9pm each evening.
Compulsion has been created and written by Sarah Deane and stars Leanne Best as the paramedic, Jenny Challoner. Leanne is well known for her appearances in Woman in Black and Young Wallender.
Her so-called good Samaritan is played by BAFTA and Olivier Awards nominee, Anna Chancellor, who takes the role of Sasha Santoro.
There is a strong performance from Golden Globe, Bafta & Oscar Awards winner Hayley Mills and her supporting role completes a stellar cast which also includes
Danny Ashok, Trudie Goodwin, Krissi Bohn and Ben Tavassoli.
Colin McKeown, Executive Producer at LA Productions, said: “We are delighted to have been commissioned by Channel 5 for the second time in just three years.
“Compulsion really is compulsive viewing.
“We have a very strong line-up of talented actors and actresses, including BAFTA and Olivier Awards nominee Anna Chancellor, so we are confident this will be a huge hit with viewers.
