Police arrest sixth man in connection with stabbing in central Liverpool

Merseyside Police have arrested a sixth man in connection with the stabbing of a 21-year-old in Liverpool city centre just after Christmas.

Five men were initially detained by police after being involved with the stabbing, which took place in the early hours of December 29th.

The incident, which took place on the junction between Church Street and Whitechapel, saw the victim being rushed to hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries to his chest.

Three other men who were involved in the incident have also been injured and also received medical attention.

Five men aged between 20 and 21 were charged with violent disorder by police, with one of the men - Cameron Quinn, aged 21, of Swanside Avenue in Huyton, also being charged with Section 18 wounding and possession of an offensive weapon.

All five men have been appearing at Liverpool and Knowsley Magistrates' Court on Saturday (January 6th) in connection with the incident.

Officers have now arrested a sixth man in connection with the attack. Merseyside Police gave more details that they had arrested a 29-year-old man from Everton.

The man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and violent disorder and is currently being questioned by detectives as they piece together his potential role in the attack.
