Liverpool Pride is back for first time in three years
There hasn't been an in-person Pride celebration since before the pandemic
Liverpool Pride returns in full today after a pandemic enforced hiatus.
Upwards of 15,000 people are set to gather for the traditional Pride march, which will set off from St George's Plateau, before heading down to the Pier Head.
This year's theme is 'Come Together', in recognition of the LGBT+ community returning to in-person events post pandemic.
Organisers say its also a chance to show unity as the 'rights and freedoms' of the community are under attack.
Disco legends Boney M will headline the festival, with Linda Gold’s FunnyBoyz and Filla Crack also set to perform.
Local LGBT+ venues will be represented at the event, including performers from OMG, The Lisbon and Superstar Boudoir.
LCR Pride Foundation CEO and Co-founder, Andi Herring, said: “We know from conversations with the community that our audience comes to Pride in Liverpool to support homegrown and upcoming talent, as well as our headline act.
"To this end, we have a truly fantastic community-driven line-up for the day and representation from some of our local LGBT+ venues, who will bring some of their best-loved performers and hosts to the stage.
“Our free festival has always been a grassroots event, with a focus on our community here in the Liverpool City Region and we look forward to being able to come together to celebrate this on Saturday.”
