A Liverpool mum who suffered domestic abuse at the hands of two partners has told Radio City News she's speaking out to help encourage other victims to speak out.
34 year old Lisa Gordon says she was attacked by a man called Lee Sullivan back in 2010.
She says it was only a few weeks into their relationship that he broke her arm.
"I was scared, he made threats, I lost my job, car. My life was turned completly upside down"
"I was fearful, I was scared, at some point suicidal, I lost myself and at one point questioned my own sanity"
Sullivan was convicted or armed robbieries as well as the attacks on Lisa in 2012 and was jailed for 8 years.
Afterwards Lisa began a relationship with her childhood friend Thomas Wyke.
"He'd been so supportive, but then he started to say manipulative stuff then it escalted into getting beat up again and me feeling highly ashamed"
"It's resorted in my no longer being scared and wanting to help other people out there"
Wyke recieved a 12 month suspended sentence and was ordered to undertake a programme learning how to build better relationships.
Now Lisa's speaking out in hope that it will help other victims to speak out and not to suffer in silence..
"If I can raise awareness that is part of my recovery. It's to make sure that domestic violence is known, heard and less victims are assaulted"
"There's no need to be ashamed. That is my strength"
