A Liverpool mum - who life was saved from a double transplant is backing calls for a change in the law - as MP's vote on plans to make the donor register compulsory

MP's will debate a new bill which will decide if people need to opt out of becoming a donor

If approved everyone will be registered as a donor unless they state otherwise.

There are currently thousands on the UK transplant waiting list for all types of organs.

Sarah who lives in the city began feeling unwell in 2011. It was only when she went to the doctors that it was found she had a low kidney function, and she was told she would need a transplant.

She waited four years for a kidney and pancreas transplant, and late last year she got told she would receive the organs after the family of a girl who passed away agreed to a donation.

"No amount of thank yous will ever be enough for the selfless act of donating their daughter's organs"

"How do you thank someone for saving your life"

Sarah believes a change in the law is necessary to help with the worrying shortage of donors.

"It could happen to anyone, if you're prepared to accept an organ, you should be willing to donate an organ when you've passed away
