A Liverpool MP says the Prime Minister's apology over an alleged Christmas Party at number ten means nothing to those who've lost their lives on the Covid front line.

Boris Johnson's ordered an investigation into claims of a gathering at Downing Street last year, which would have broken the rules.

It came as the PM told the Commons he was "sickened" by footage of aides joking about the alleged event and apologised "unreservedly" for any offence caused.

Riverside MP Kim Johnston says it's a slap in the face for everyone who's been deeply affected by the pandemic :

"Lots of people died particularly key workers who put their lives on the line. I think the apology means nothing and it shows it's one rule for one and one rule for everyone else, it means nothing. this government need to take responsibility.

"The decision about whether the PM should resign is one for the Tory party but he hasn't acted in best judgement of this country".
