Liverpool Man Jailed For Life For Murdering His Neighbour
Merseyside Police can confirm that Martin Daiken, 28 years, of Boaler Street, Kensington, has been sentenced to life, with a minimum tariff of 18 years, for the murder of 47-year-old neighbour Roy Heyes at his home in Kensington in March this year.
Mr Heyes was found in his flat on Boaler Street on the evening of Sunday, 1 March, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. A home office post-mortem examination confirmed that he died as a result of multiple injuries. His neighbour Martin Daiken handed himself in to the police later in the evening of 1 March and was subsequently charged with murder. Detective Chief Inspector Andy O'Connor, said: "We note the sentence issued to Martin Daiken today and on behalf of Merseyside Police I would like to offer my sincere condolences to the family of Roy Heyes. "I know from my dealings with Roy's family that he is greatly missed by his family and friends. I hope that the sentencing today gives them some sense of closure, although I know that their sense of loss will stay with them. "Roy Heyes died as a result of multiple injuries he suffered in a sustained and brutal attack in his own home. Daiken is a dangerous individual and the sentencing today reflects the severity of the offence." DCI O'Connor added: "I would like take this opportunity to thank the investigation team for their commitment and tenacity in preparing this case for court and Crown Prosecution Service staff, who have provided support in this investigation."
