A Liverpool man has been jailed for 10 and a half years, after being convicted of child sex offences.

Phillip Rogers, aged 64, of Hornby Road, Liverpool, was sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court after being found guilty of two counts of attempted sexual assault and four counts of indecent assauls.

It's in relation to two victims, one of whom was targeted in the 1970s, the other in the 1990s.

Rogers, originally from Wirral, will also be placed on the sex offenders register for life.

Detective Inspector Leanne Toole, of Merseyside Police, said: “This sentence follows a lengthy investigation to bring Rogers before the courts so that he pays for his crime.

“Thanks to the determination and bravery of his survivors, Rogers will now spend a considerable amount of time behind bars for his actions.

“This sentencing shows that time is no barrier and we will always act on information about sexual assault, no matter when they occurred.

“I would like to praise the courage and dignity shown by his two survivors throughout the investigation.

“Merseyside Police is completely committed to protecting children from sexual abuse and those who seek to do them harm.

“We hope that Rogers will now reflect on the consequences of his utterly depraved actions while serving his jail time.”
