Liverpool man arrested on firearms offences

Shots were fired in Kirkby and West Derby between December and February

Merseyside Police have confirmed that a man has been arrested in connection with three firearm incidents in Kirkby and West Derby.

On Friday 22 December 2023, it was reported that a firearm had been discharged on Alvina Lane, in Kirkby, which caused damage to a front door.

On Friday 26 January 2024, it was reported that shots had been fired at a property on Eaton Road, in West Derby.

On Friday 2 February 2024, it was reported that a male entered a property on Henlow Avenue, in Kirkby, and fired a gun. There were no reported injuries.

A 21-year-old man from Liverpool has been arrested on suspicion of three counts of possession with a firearm with intent to endanger life. He was also arrested on suspicion of conspiring to commit burglary in connection to an incident in St Helens last year, as well as drugs offences including acquiring/using/possessing criminal property and being concerned in the supply of a controlled Class B drug (cannabis).

He has been bailed pending further inquiries.

Detective Chief Inspector Phil Atkinson said: “We can confirm that a man has been arrested in connection to three recent firearm discharges and investigations remain ongoing into each incident.

“We are relentless in our pursuit of those involved in serious organised crime and we are determined to remove firearms from our streets.

“We need the help of our communities to make our streets safer by being our eyes and ears and tell us what they know so that we can take positive action.
