Liverpool Mayor Joe Anderson says the city is out of the running to become the new home of Channel 4.
The broadcaster is searching for a new headquaters outside of London with plans to create hundreds of jobs.
Anderson tweeted this afternoon to say the city hadn't been shortlisted because it was 'not connected transport wise'
Channel 4 say they won't comment on the Mayor's tweet but will provide an update later.
Speaking to Radio City Talk, Anderson said: "The negative aspect from their point of view was the fact that Liverpool wasn't going to be connected to the fast rail network"
"To be told that by an organisation that is hugely reliant to Government funding is a real slap in the face moment."
Other cities which have submitted bids include Glasgow, Manchester and Cardiff
