As the cost of living crisis begins to hit home, We're hearing foodbanks in Liverpool are having to ration handouts to keep up with a huge increase in referrals.

In the past 3 days alone the L6 Centre in Everton say they've had more than 600 extra people coming forward for meals.

It comes after a warning from providers across the UK they are struggling to keep up with "relentless demand".

Gerard Woodhouse from the L6 says it's worse than he imagined :

"We've still only got the same budget to rely on and it's going to get worse and I think it'll come to a day when we say enough is enough and we can only rely on what we've got in here.

"Where we were giving six pieces of bacon we are now giving four. Where we were giving a dozen eggs we're now only giving half a dozen.

"We're in need of bacon, sausage, eggs, bread, butter and cheese. All of those things. We've got beans and tinned potatoes but it's the other stuff we really need".
