A domestic abuse survivor from Liverpool is urging football clubs to ban sick trolls who shared images of victims online.

It's after the bruised faces of 5 women were posted on social media with the words 'Beaten at home' mocking Liverpool's recent run of results at Anfield.

The meme includes local campaigner Katie Walker whose face was shattered in a brutal attack by her ex ten years ago.

Katie's told Radio City News clubs need to take a stand :

"This is not football banter, this is absolutely disgusting. it's real women's lives.

"Women fear for their lives when it's football season. Seeing as football is contributing to domestic abuse they've got the platform to help show that they don't condone this behaviour; like they did with racism, people who are sharing this need to be banned from matches."

"I've worked for years to get myself into a good place and I really hope that the other women in these pictures are in a better place because seeing somebody mocking, in the name of football, something that is so traumatic that you've been through in your life then if this was still really raw it is something that could tip you over the edge."

Merseyside Police have released a statement about the images being shared:
