Merseyside Police launch appeal after firearm incident in Kirkby
A window was shot through by a firearm in the town on Saturday night
Police in Merseyside is appealing for information following a firearms incident in the town of Kirkby on Saturday night (March 30th).
Officers first received reports of an incident that took place at a property on Dorchester Drive at around 11:45p.m.
When responders arrived on the scene, they found that a ground floor window had been shot through three times, with damage being done to a wall in the property.
There were three adults in the house at the time of the shooting, the force revealed - however, there were no reports of any injuries.
Merseyside Police have now launched an investigation into the incident and police are now carrying out a search of the local area for evidence and potential leads.
Speaking on the case, Detective Inspector Yoseph Al-Ramadhan asked the public to get in touch if they saw anything that could help police in their enquiries.
"Our enquiries into the incident are in the very early stages. While we are treating it as a targeted incident, we believe it may have been a case of mistaken identity," he explained.
"There is no place for guns on the streets of Merseyside and it is only by sheer good fortune that nobody was hurt in this incident," Al-Ramadhan added.
“Anyone who discharges a firearm towards a house risks causing serious injury or worse to those inside, and we will do everything in our power to bring those responsible to justice."
Al-Ramadhan also encouraged those who were in the vicinity of Dorchester Drive at 11:45p.m. to get in touch with anything they may have seen.
As well as this, anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage to get in touch as soon as possible, as it may have captured some part of the incident.
Anyone who has any information can get in touch with officers by contacting Merseyside Police and quoting incident reference number 24000299674.
