Police appealing for information after an armed robbery in Childwall last night.

At around 8.20pm, a report was received of a 15-year-old boy on an electric bicycle being approached by three males outside TJ Newsagents on the Childwall Fiveways Roundabout.

He was reportedly threatened with a knife and the bike and a mobile phone were stolen.

Officers were able to locate the bike due to a tracker being installed in the frame, and it was found on Mossley Hill Road, and will be returned to the victim.

Enquiries continue to identify the offenders, including CCTV and witness enquiries at local residences and shops.

Detective Inspector Steve Street said: “Although the electric bike has been found, this was a frightening incident for the victim and we will support him and his family as our investigation continues. A scooter believed to have been ridden by one of the offenders was also found in Sefton Park and has been forensically seized for further enquiries.

“Our enquiries are ongoing so I’d like to appeal to anyone who has yet to come forward to do so, as any information, images or footage could be extremely useful to this investigation. Childwall Fiveways Roundabout is a busy junction so if you were passing through and may have captured the suspects or the incident itself, please let us know.

“Additionally, we hope the knowledge that this bike was fitted with a tracker will serve two purposes. Firstly, as a strong deterrent to anyone who would consider attempting to steal such a vehicle. Secondly, as a reminder to owners to ensure that they have a level of security proportionate to the value of their bike.”
