An investigation is continuing after a car ploughed into a tree outside a busy supermarket in Bootle.

It happened near to the Lidl on Marsh lane at around 12:50pm yesterday.

Six people were taken to hospital, three of whom are belived to be small children.

There are no reports of any serious injuries.

A man in his 50s was arrested by police at the scene on suspicion of drink driving.
