Hundreds of homeless sleeping in Liverpool hotels
Up to 800 people staying in temporary accomodation
As many as 800 homeless people are living in hotels across Merseyside.
It comes as services report a big spike in people needing support after the pandemic, with fears the problem could be even worse because of hidden homelessness.
John Metcalf is from the Liverpool YMCA he says the situation is much worse than you think :
"It's a huge amount of people, we think it's about six to eight hundred people who are currently displaced in hotels. It's important that we've been able to provide places of safety and get people from the streets and indoors, particularly through the pandemic.
"It's a constant in Liverpool, we have lots of hidden homelessness. We have lots of people in temporary accomodation and we have people who sofa surf".
