A girl's in a critical condition in hospital, after she was stabbed in Liverpool City Centre.

It's understood she was with friends, and had an argument with a group of boys near Marks and Spencer on Church Alley last night (Thursday, 25 November), when one of them assaulted her.

The group then ran off.

Police were called at around 8.40pm. They haven't told us the girl's age, but say her family have been informed and are with her at hospital.

Crime Scene Investigators have been carrying out forensic examinations overnight.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has information which could help police with their enquiries, is asked to DM @MerPolCC, message ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre on Facebook’ or @CrimestoppersUK on 0800 555 111 with reference 0899 of 25 November.
